The Spectrum of Renal Biopsy Findings in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation

Abstract
Hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT), previously known as bone marrow transplantation, is a common therapeutic option for a variety of hematopoietic malignancies and other hematologic disorders. Given the administration of various chemotherapeutic agents often in conjunction with radiation therapy, renal dysfunction in HCT patients in the form of either acute renal failure or proteinuria is common, which has been well reviewed . The differential diagnosis of early renal dysfunction includes thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA), infection, tumor lysis syndrome, hepatic veno-occlusive disease, pharmacologic agent toxicity, and acute kidney injury/acute tubular necrosis . Late renal dysfunction is more likely idiopathic or secondary to TMA, graft versus host disease (GVHD), nephrotic syndrome, and/or calcineurin inhibitor toxicity .Comentarios :
